I thought she was eggbound... but after many attempts, nothing is working!!

When I felt inside I didn't feel anything hard like an egg. It seemed like there was a bloody mass of some sort but I wasn't sure if that was just the inner vent being swollen and aggravated.

I have never been through this before, just read about it, but the egg could be a shell-less egg. Also, it could be another part of the reproductive tissue coming out or something called a lash egg. Hopefully she will pass it--keeping our fingers crossed.

another thing-- she seems really wobbly. She keeps going into the corner of her cage and just stands there (up like a penguin).

So I felt an egg.. way down in her abdomen and I tried to help it move up. When it got close she really strained and strained and wheezed and I never could feel the shell. She was just pushing a bloody mass out (like a big hemmoroid).. She is in chicken heaven now, I just couldn't watch her suffer like that.

Sorry to hear that. It sure didn't look like one of those cases that ends well; if I had to guess, her problem was complex, certainly did not seem like a simple fix to me at all, nor any one problem but rather a combination. I would guess in that case surgery would have been required, and that's simply not an option for most.

Good on you for easing her suffering, and sorry that it didn't end the way we hoped. Best wishes with your flock.

@ Pathfinders: it didn't end like we hoped.

My condolences to the owner. Best wishes to all.

Oh, I missed that somehow. My condolences as well, so sorry you lost her.
