I have two big, black chickens. I'm pretty sure they are both hens, and each one gives me an egg every day. I also thought I had Australorps. Now I'm not sure...

I was reading about a breed of chickens a few days ago, and the article said that females have gold feathers laced into their breast feathers, and that males have white feathers laced into their hackles - just like mine do. And worse, I can't remember what breed it is, and I can't remember where I read it.

I was doing just fine thinking I had two female Australorps, until I read that. Neither one looks like a rooster, and each one fits the Australorp descriptions and traits, but those feathers have gotten me dazed and confused, and I can't sleep at night.

Name that breed so I can get some sleep! P&TY!

Probably black sex link if they have gold laced in the neck.
Where did you purchase them from? Pics please??

Australorps are black with greenish tinted feathers..

Nope. One has gold feathers only on her breast. The other has white feathers all around the hackle.

They have the blue-green sheen, four toes, big ole rear ends, and they like to hang out with me.

I'll go wake them up and take pics. They'll like that.
