Great link! Pete has a lot of chickens for an urban area! The woman placing chickens is pretty cool too. While hens don't usually "stop" laying at 18 months, they will slow down and eventually stop.

I think it is good for people to have the option to find "homes" for their spent layers (in cases where they aren't pets). I think many people will also either process their chickens for food or find someone else that will do it.
 
The other day someone started the 'ol "What would you do if you won the lottery?" question, and everyone pitched in with the usual 'ol answers (pay off my bills, buy my mom a house, buy my own island etc).

I said I'd buy a huge plot of land where chickens could live happily without fear of being eaten.

You should have seen the looks from the other folks. They thought I was nuts!
