I thought this was strange...

My duck is a 3 mo. old muscovy. I have had him since he was 5 days old and I have spent every single day with him, just hanging out, giving him treats, and letting him grow up. He follows me from room to room (yes he wears diapers) and does everything I do, of course. (like at the moment, he's asleep under my desk)
So basically, he is fully imprinted on me. But through all that I have read and researched, it seemed that if I showed him to other ducks he would leave me, and forget me. I have been afraid to let him meet his own kind or let him have a stroll at the duck pond, but I took him to my grandpas with me for an entire week. Which made me nervous, there are ducks and geese EVERYWHERE.
I took him to the pond, for the first time, and he absolutely loved it. The ducks and geese thought he was absolutely fascinating. So of course, they advanced towards him to try and make friends. He turned around and ran to me as fast as his little legs could carry him! He was so afraid. The entire week ducks and geese would come up to him and he would hide behind me for protection.
I just thought it was strange.

I figured he would atleast be a little interested but he is 100% convinced he is a human.

i'd be careful taking him to the ponds. Wildlife carry disiese and could affect him! Mine does the same thing, he lives with 2 hens and has not forgotten me! he won't let me pet the hens ans stalks me!
Remember he is domesticated and not wild! be really carefull, would hate for you to loose him!

That is nice.

I had ducks once, and would take them to the river behind my house to swim in a little dam area I built in it. They abandoned me to fall in with a group of native ducks in the area.

I miss them terribly.

But I am glad they have the life they were ment to live. That is my only solice.

He wouldn't leave me, any time I walk away he cries haha. Poor guy. I have to carry him a lot because he walks slow and he'll freak out.
He can't fly either, his right wing is damaged thanks to angel wing, I saved his left one though!
