Is this fine? Should I take some precautions? I can see the quail moving around, pushing against the membrane... Will this cause the Quail to die or no?
Im really new to hatching, this is my first batch ever... I know mostly, how to raise Quail chicks and their adult selves aswell, but I've never hatched any.

Has the membrane been penetrated? If not, then a hole needs to be made so the chick can breath!
Why did you remove some of the shell? Did it pip externally? Unless they have piped and it's been over 24 hours and no progression, then it would be ok to assist in the hatching process.

In all reality, if the chick can't hatch on it's own, it probably has some other problems with it, genetic, nutritional or environmental. It's best not to intervene in the hatching process.

Ah... It had been a day or two over the usual hatching time, so I peeled off some of the shell from one of my eggs, it was moving though... Also, what does pip mean?

Pip means when the chicks pokes a hole in the Shell or membrane. Did you calibrate your incubator to make sure the temperatures were right?
Temp was 37c. Theres an in-built rotator, and it was Humid... My main question is whether peeling off abit of their shell will kill them?

Did you calibrate it to make sure it's correct? What day are they on of incubation? The day you set is day zero, the 24 hours after that is day one. What breed of Quail? did you peel just the shell or both the shell and membrane?
We need to know all of this to answer your questions.

Here's a pic of a piped egg and one that is zipping! This is what someone is talking about when they say 'pip' or 'zipping'..
