I used ivermectin but peafowl still have mites

Kathy says the injectable works for lice but I have not seen it working on my birds, I rely on the pour on giving 0.4ml divided on the skin in three places, between the shoulders, above the vent and a tiny drop behind the crest. My vet manual states there are no sucking lice on birds so it is difficult for me to understand how a louse is going to get the medication if it does not feed on the blood of the bird. I have also never seen a mite, only lice.

I have heard that the pour on is very strong and irritates the tender skin of the birds...I was wondering if mixing a little oil, ie., olive oil with the pour on Ivermectin would make it easier on the tender skin and yet still be as effective as pouring it on full strength. Your thoughts?

True, it will leave a chemical burn and scab off, that is why I do not put it under the wings or other thin skin areas anymore, just the areas I mentioned above. Let us know about diluting it in the oil and how well that works.
