I Used Sea Shell For Base Of My Run And Under Coop Is This Ok?

I am in St. Pete. I have a portion of my yard that has crushed shell. I would remove the shell from their run. Even though it's crushed, there are still indents that will catch their poo. It's going to be very difficult to clean. I have had excellent success with sand. No smell. The chooks will bury there poo while foraging and bathing. It's virtually care free to clean.

Thank you ! Any sand will be ok. Couple bags of play sand from home Depot or should I get river sand ?

If your yard is like mine, you don't need to buy anything. Just let the chickens tear up the grass and the "dirt" here IS sand!

I put half inch mesh on bottom so they cant dig

Im thinking the river rock sand is better mor course and wouldnt clump as much as play sand?

Oh yeah - then yes, just make sure it is nice an thick so they can make their holes to lay in.
