I know you're happy!!!

Congratulations! That is one beautiful egg! Penny's first egg was super soft shell and squished, the next was shell-less, the next was soft, too. Now she's laying beautiful eggs which i can't eat because she's on medication.

i hate to waste anything and have thought about blowing the eggs and doing something with them. Maybe a mobile, or decorate to hang on the Christmas tree. My mom used to take eggs, color them, and cut away part of one side, then put in some easter grass and a little chick. i still have those, they're so cute.

Anyhow, congrats!

Congrats! I got my first egg today too!!!
But it was from a 7 month old Barred Rock I just purchased yesterday. My 18 week old Americaunas haven't layed yet. I guess I cheated -

Ok....so today i did not get any egg. so i think it must be setting its cycle, being new at it.
I can tell alot of them are getting a little wild/vocal so they should all be laying soon.
The oldest are all (9) 24 weeks old this past wed.So they are all due to hammer me with eggs. Just in time for halloween

My daughter does want to paint the first egg so hopefully i wont mess it up blowing it out. I am so happy. I have not heard from the lady with the silkies and i have called her an emailed her.....hope she didn't change her mind.

My Penny was a little off on laying at first. First egg plopped out at night while she was roosting. Same with the next two. Then she got on cycle and is laying near about every day in the nest box.

Sure hope you hear back on the silkies. There is a guy near me advertising on recycler.com who has a passle of them, boys and girls. i would be tempted were i not just now thinning down, finding homes for the boys, and restoring peace in the kingdom.
