I honestly barely even noticed that she was black, only now because everyone's pointing it out. She just looked like another cute disney princess to me!

As to the issue of movies and race... I think it's important that little kids see themselves reflected in the world around them. I think it's part of helping them to define themselves and determine what potential they have -- what dreams they can have for themselves in the future. The movie allows them to stretch their imaginations, as all little kids do. Remember, though, little kids aren't "hung up" on race; they notice it, but they don't think it's a big deal until someone "older and wiser" teaches them that it is.
I have no problem with few or no "white people" in the Princess and Frog; there are white people all over the place in other stuff; it's not like whites have been marginalized in the movie industry as a whole or anything.

Actually, I don't think it is entirely true that kids don't notice race or people can grow up and never see another person's color. Of course you do, just like you notice someones eye color, hair color, what they are wearing, how they walk. It is how we identify people. It is when we notice and think it somehow makes a difference that there is a problem. If you had to identify a missing person and couldn't even describe their skin color there would be a problem. If I somehow lost the ability to distinguish different skin tones I would be so sad......I would lose out on some of the immense beauty that is around me. The problem is, some of those people who identify worth by skin color are upset by this movie. That is where the controversy comes from.

Just hang out with someone of a difference race for day and you will totally see that there is no difference.

My son asked me when he was small why we called people Black. He said they are dark brown and the other ones are light brown...... From the mouths of babes.
I don't see what the big deal is. Let's see, we've had american indians and starring in Disney movies, so why not other different races? People just like to make a big deal over everything. Chances are after this one, they'll continue to go back to their old ways for a while, until they shake it up yet again. It's JUST a movie
It looks like a good movie to me! Besides, if they want something to gripe about, they should complain about the Bratz dolls and other barbie figures teaching little kids to dress in ways I wouldn't want my kids to.
