I wanna see this movie I don't see the big problem?!

I agree. If that's the only thing people focus on, they're going to miss the story.

Looks like a great movie... Disney's really stepped it up a notch in the past few years with their animated features. If I had kids, I'd take them to see it for sure. Heck, I'll probably rent it and watch it myself (I don't actually go to the theater to see movies much).

As to the issue of movies and race... I think it's important that little kids see themselves reflected in the world around them. I think it's part of helping them to define themselves and determine what potential they have -- what dreams they can have for themselves in the future. The movie allows them to stretch their imaginations, as all little kids do. Remember, though, little kids aren't "hung up" on race; they notice it, but they don't think it's a big deal until someone "older and wiser" teaches them that it is.

I have no problem with few or no "white people" in the Princess and Frog; there are white people all over the place in other stuff; it's not like whites have been marginalized in the movie industry as a whole or anything.

I don't get why any race or culture has to be a token ?

Most of us wouldn't see the race --- Guess though if ya gotta yell about something this is as good as any

Actually, I don't think it is entirely true that kids don't notice race or people can grow up and never see another person's color. Of course you do, just like you notice someones eye color, hair color, what they are wearing, how they walk. It is how we identify people. It is when we notice and think it somehow makes a difference that there is a problem. If you had to identify a missing person and couldn't even describe their skin color there would be a problem. If I somehow lost the ability to distinguish different skin tones I would be so sad......I would lose out on some of the immense beauty that is around me. The problem is, some of those people who identify worth by skin color are upset by this movie. That is where the controversy comes from.

I think when talking about animated shows, South Park handled the race issue the best. They named the one black child character in the series "Token". (Well, there was Chef, but he is dead now)

I agree with you. My little siblings notice that in my family we have different colors of skin. But they don't think much of it, its just there. We never put any names to the difference of our skin colors. They noticed it one day and Natasha and Sarah walked out of their room and told us all that Natasha was Chocolate and Sarah was Vanilla. And then Sarah immediately said (in a joking way) that Natasha tastes very good and went back to chasing her to try to "eat her"

They were around 5 years old when they came up with that. Little kids don't care, its when they get older and see their parents/friends/family being racist is when they start being racist. My granddad was racist, until we got my little brother and sister. They totally showed him that skin color makes no difference, and its all on the inside. My Granddad loved those babies till they day he died. They were everything to him. My dad asked him one day, "Did you ever think that a little black boy would carry on you name?" My granddad answered to him, "Not in my wildest dreams, Glenn, not in my wildest dreams..." But my Granddad had finally realized there was no difference. Its amazing how people can be so shallow. Just hang out with someone of a difference race for day and you will totally see that there is no difference.

I'm done now

I don't see what the big deal is. Let's see, we've had american indians and starring in Disney movies, so why not other different races? People just like to make a big deal over everything. Chances are after this one, they'll continue to go back to their old ways for a while, until they shake it up yet again. It's JUST a movie

It looks like a good movie to me! Besides, if they want something to gripe about, they should complain about the Bratz dolls and other barbie figures teaching little kids to dress in ways I wouldn't want my kids to.
