I wanna see your wolf!

My husbands friend has a Mackenzie Timber Wolf hybred. She looks like a collie wolf cross. She has the same face as On the Spots pics. She is very shy with new people, she was abused when she was a pup, but very loving.

The MacKenzie is MacKenzie River Malemute which was crossed w/wild wolves because of the large size being close to what the wolves are. I grew up w/these x's in Kotzebue, Alaska and my grandparents and uncle always had one that looked like my Stover for me to have as a companion as the others were too wild for me.

You can see in the faces of Stover and OntheSpot's that mine is more dog and the other more wolf:) Also, look at the hips, the legs and stance, the way the animal moves, you can clearly see the wolf and how much has come thru in the bloodline to the animal.

Stover's strain is from the 1970's so you don't actually "see" it as clearly, only in certain actions as what you'd see in OnTheSpot's...

When I was little, we had a wolf named Sherriff. She was such a sweetie! We had to give her to someone else though because after my little brother was born and was playing on the floor, she would sorta crouch down like she was stalking him. I don't think that she would have ever attacked him, but better safe than sorry. I miss her very much.

Our neighbors took in a stray that has some very wolf-like characteristics and doesn't bark but does howl. They brought him by to "meet" my dogs....two very sweet(and usually eager to play with other dogs) Labs. They immediately got savage and started to fight this dog. I was amazed and mortified! The older dog got positively scary and I had to pull her off him! I had never seen her attack any other dog before! Maybe they sensed the predator in him? This dog had previously roamed the woods and fields alone, was and is very timid and scared of humans, and fights with all other dogs the neighbors have. He definitely looks part wolf but is on the small side.

My sister had a Rottweiler/Wolf cross once. The mother used to hunt for game for her pups. The Rott/Wolf cross had to be put down for attacking the neighbor's kids....heard them squealing and playing across the road, pulled away from my sister and charged them. The neighbor had to fight him off with a rake! I think his eyesight might have been poor and he was going on just sound...maybe they sounded like prey.

funny you should mention that. Sometimes after I pet Patches (the wolf) and I go to something else, like an obedience class or someone's house that has dogs, their dogs will absolutely go into complete defense mode and growl at me, hackles up, tail down and puffed up. Most dogs HATE the smell of a wolf, even well trained ones the owners can't make them act right when I stink all wolfy.

I LOVED all the White Fang movies. That is so neat that your wolf played the back up one.

Love all the pictures you guys posted. They are so beautiful.

I would love to live in Alaska, I want to have a sled dog team with my dog. He LOVES pulling me on inline skates and I bet he would love the sledding as well. He looks like a Chinook to me, which is very unlikely *lol*, but he has several characteristics that they have.

Here is Tonka.. AKA Badonkadonk. His dadddy was half arctic and half white shepherd. His mommy was half husky and half arctic. I recently met a lady who wants to breed him with her timber/arctic/malamute. I can't wait!!!
