I want happy ducks but I want to be responsible... thoughts?

Prying at door corners.....reaching through mesh(coon classic technique)....tip and crush crate to create gaps.

Just not sturdy against predators.
I feel like my coop is less secure and haven’t had issues! Everyone keeps saying the dog kennel isn’t predator proof but I can’t wrap my head around why?

Yes, crate for a large dog to turn around in, no opening.

Let me restate....the no top is in reference to your tall kennel.

Raccoons climb, Fox can leap it easily, Coyotes can destroy it.
Raccoons also can reach in through the chain link, skunks, snakes and weasels will walk or slither right through it. Owls and hawks can drop in for a snack. Many critters who don't feel like going over can easily dig under.

I agree not predator proof.

The dog chain link kennel is not predator proof but the puppy crate is fine.
I think the OP was asking if it's fine to leave the puppy crate OPEN at night so the ducks could be in the totally insecure run. Correct me if I'm mistaken, but that seems a tad different than leaving them locked in the crate at night.
I suppose it'll work fine until it doesn't. When it doesn't work, the birds die.
