Makes perfect sense though. When I'm foraging for back yard medicine I never clear a patch of anything completely for the same reason. But thank you for saying that because I wouldn't of thought of that part. But considering 90% of them are up there I would like to get most or at least some. Not very many were growing on the lower branches and I have four very large goats so anything under 5 foot was gone quick.Ooo If you're into canning I have a recipe for a GREAT pear pie filling. Better than apple! I've read you should remove some of the fruits from each bunch so the tree can put more energy into the remaining fruits (but I don't have pear trees on my current property so maybe someone else can confirm/refute this)
And I've never actually had A pear tree. How can you tell when they're ready for picking?
