i want small chickens...but good layers...

My Leghorns are great layers and are very small birds. They are very flighty though, so if you're looking for a friendly breed this is not for you. My little OEGB hen (Old English Game Bantam) is TINY, super friendly (like a puppy) and lays about 4-5 eggs a week on average. Tiny eggs though. The Leghorn eggs are huge. Silkies might be a good choice for you, too.

Could this be my dream chicken?? I am seeing my incubator full of banty leghorn eggs right now.... anyone have any for sale?? (and I promised myself I wouldn't get into any more new breeds!)

I like my bantam leghorns, but keep in mind that they lay itty bitty eggs!

Do they? That's a shame, as LF leghorns lay a good size egg.
I've had bantam Marans & bantam Sussex. Their eggs were larger than I'd expected for bantams.

So many choices! I don't really mind small eggs at all. Thank you all for your help! ...Now the DH and I need to have a talk about chickens...and building a coop!
