When I joined this site less than 24 hours ago the breeds I was interested in were Easter Eggers and Faverolles, I was thinking 3-4 hens of each. After being awake until 3am reading articles and looking at pictures I would also love some Orpington and Australorp. So now maybe 2 of each kind.
Sadly we won't even be able to have ANY chickens for at least another year. Sigh. I think I joined this forum too early, I'm going to obsess.
Does anyone have experience keeping the 4 above breeds together?
Thanks peeps.

Welcome! Those breeds would all be fine together. In my experience the worrisome birds are the super flighty ones or the hot weather birds but I know that may be my own superstition!
Right now I have 6 girls of 5 different breeds. I love the look of a mixed flock. If it weren’t such a pain in the tail to incorporate young birds I would brood every year :) they are collectible!

Thanks LizzyJo. I want some so much right now. Especially since I am home and have the time for them. I’m trying to scheme how I get my husband to agree to getting a ‘starter set’ lol I could build a small coup to house them now. I just have to get him on board...

Always build much bigger than you think you need from the get go. Have you ever looked up ‘chicken math’?:lau

Yes I have, I have been looking up everything I can. And I think I have hubby convinced to get a couple now. I played the "sad cancelled birthday plans because of covid" card lol! :D

Those breeds should be fine together. Seem like good choices! Individuals and blood lines do vary but none of those breeds have reputations for being hard to get along with. We have all those except for the faverolles and enjoy them.

Love your approach with your husband. COVID has actually presented a good time to start raising chicks for many families. Silver lining! With my wife and son home, we've raised 15 that are now moving out to their coop and 10 more coming for the brooder soon.

Good luck!
