He's not here yet, but will be next weekend. And then starts two of the longest weeks of my life and probably his as well!

He'll have to go into quarantine before joining his new ladies. I'm also hoping this time period will give both him and the girls a chance to kind of get to know each other through the fence as it were, and without any bloodshed. I've heard that hens can be brutal about receiving a new rooster. And I certainly don't want to have Armageddon on my hands!

Thanks for thinking that he's pretty too. I fell in love with him at first sight, and when Dawn said that Brandon wanted to give him to me, I nearly fainted!! OMGosh!! That beautiful creature can be all mine??

So, yeah! I'm pretty excited to be getting him. We even got 3/4's of the way through making the necessary modifications to the chicken set up out here in anticipation of his arrival next weekend. I just need to build him a nice small shelter so that he can get in out of the cold at night while he goes through quarantine.

I just hope my girls fall in love with him as quickly as I did. Keep your fingers crossed and say a little prayer for him won't you folks? If it doesn't work out with us, then he goes back to Dawn and Brandon....and sadly, if that's the case, they plan on eating him!

I just can't let that happen!!! He's too pretty to be named Dinner!!

Thanks for the correction on proper comb terminology! Strawberry!! HAHA!!! DOH!! I knew it was something of a flora nature. If ya saw him in person, you'd have to admit that it looks like a big old strawberry sitting right smack dab in the middle of his forehead!!
