My brooders are outside, and in an insulated room in the barn. DH is very sensitive to odors. I had chicks in the bathtub last winter. I loved it:)

All of you need to quit fooling yourselves about quitting hatching eggs..... If you hatch them now they will be laying in the spring....That's what I tell myself every time I fill the bator or buy hatching eggs!

Whatever you all do, don't run an extra incubator as a hatcher.
This is what will happen: You will throw anything and everything that looks interesting or hopeful into the incubator. When they hit day 18 you'll put them in the hatcher. This will make room in the incubator for MORE interesting eggs. You won't even know what hit you until it's too late. Every week you'll have new ones hatching, and the possibilities are endless.

I've been cycling eggs through my incubator and two hatchers since September 4th, hatching every week after the first batch. It's really hard to stop. I have 5 different holding stations for newly hatched, 2 weeks, 3 weeks, 4 weeks, and 5 weeks. It's insane. Finally I'm down to only 4 places where I have to feed, water and clean because some are old enough to be together. They are in a heated holding shelter outside. At least it's not that cold yet, and they'll be big enough to be in the barn off heat soon. I really think this next batch will be my last... Don't laugh...
