Use a Greenhouse recording thermostat and indoor monitor for it; Will last a long time. A Indoor/outdoor temp thermometer is under $50 with remote reading from at least 40 ft..
If connected to a vent system; it will regulate vents if you want to spend a lot too much money.
If you can get to a Harbor Freight store; they have low cost security cameras that will let you visually monitor the chicks. I have one that cost me $39 for a single camera; can get up to 4-6 camera units under $300 easy. A nice one with 4 cams was just $122 on a recent sale.
