I want to start small backyard flock.

I've grown up around chickens, but have never had my own flock. I would like brown egg layers, but also would like friendly, docile birds. I have no interest in my birds for meat.
I was thinking maybe a silver laced wyandotte, a golden lace wyandotte, a barred rock, a black austrolorp, & a buff orpington. would these birds tend to get along well together?
I had thought I'd like a RIR, but from what I've read, they would probably bully these more peaceable chickens. Any thoughts, comments, suggestions?
Thanks
I would highly recommend the Buff Orpington very docile and great brown egg layers

I have two black austrolorps 1.5yr they lay nice brown eggs an mind to themselves but stick together (sisters)mixes lay beautiful big brown eggs. I have one gold laced wyndotte she is bitchy hen lol is little over a year old. And lays nice tanish brown big eggs. My black laced dotte mix lays the biggest eggs out of my flock huge brown jumbos shes friendly an comes to me each time. And i have 2rir ones more friendly an wants to great you than the other but they do stick up for themselves with the roos i have.both very good layers of brown eggs And i have one sussex she just started laying but are brown eggs as well. Shes very friendly. My flock mixes well together after being introduced. And i spend a lot of time with them. All breeds are hardy an lay nice big brown eggs. Good luck!

I have a good compost pile going. I figured with chickens, a lot of what goes into the compost pile now would go to my chickens when they got big enough to go into their coop. But more compost down the road is just a bonus
