I really can’t answer that. If it were that simple, sour crop would not be so difficult to treat. @casportpony have you tried aspirating material from a sour crop, or flushing one and has it worked?

If the situation is critical and the assumption that it's straight forward sour crop is wrong, or even if it isn't, might not crop surgery, which has been successfully done and there are videos and advice on how to do it available, be a better option. You would have the benefit of being able to see the crop contents as well as being able to clean it out properly.I was just wondering if anyone has done this and knows how far down the tube should be inserted. I watched a video, and she put the tubing in but she could not pull the syringe out which I felt she was hitting something solid or was it because she didn't push air in first...idk.
@azygous has. https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/emergency-crop-surgery-question.1607576/post-27944019If the situation is critical and the assumption that it's straight forward sour crop is wrong, or even if it isn't, might not crop surgery, which has been successfully done and there are videos and advice on how to do it available, be a better option. You may not be up for it and I wouldn't blame you; I've never done it and I'm not sure I could, so bear this in mind when and if you consider the option.
Yes I've killed 2 hens..one hen died just by massaging her crop, it killed her. So that's too risky for me.That stubborn sour crop!
I had been in your shoes now so many times so I hear you loud and clear.
In desperation I had tip her over while gentle massage her crop toward her head for a very short time, liquid came out and I put her straight back up, her face and comb turned almost black . That was near death!!!!! It eased the balloon sour crop a bit. Non of the my hens died from this procedure as I was very quick, but it was high risk and in desperation I did that.
Some of my hens end up passed away, not from that procedure, but from some sort of ill health that stop the crop from ever be emptied, their system shutdown so crop stopped working and turned sour. I only came to this after they passed.

Yes and she seemed to be having trouble drawing it out..like if you didn't push air into the syringe first...so wondering what she was doing wrong or if it was as simple as she said and solids got into the tubing. Is this the video you watched?
My vet wouldn't even consider the crop surgery. And that's a bit above me, I think..If the situation is critical and the assumption that it's straight forward sour crop is wrong, or even if it isn't, might not crop surgery, which has been successfully done and there are videos and advice on how to do it available, be a better option. I'm using the french catheter in the video....when it arrives, that is.I have tried aspirating it, but was not successful. I think it's because the opening of the tube is too small.
What size did you get?I'm using the french catheter in the video....when it arrives, that is.
