I wanted to support my local feed store, but my flock hates their feed!

@AllenK@new2this have you asked the local store to order what you want? Mine told me they buy from M-G and can get anything, but don't stock it. So I special order the #14 MG Chick Grower granules (18% protein) and every 2 weeks I go pick up the bag they ordered for me.

What brands do they carry? I will say that MG is local in Texas and do use soybeans. I think Texas Naturals is the organic brand they carry for twice the price.

Ful-o-Pep from either San Antonio or Cuero, Tx. I don't like that it is medicated and 18% I was just thinking I'll just go to TSC and put them back on the old feed since that was 24% formulated for game birds, also had our first egg today so need to get em started on Oyster shell free choice too.

I would be willing to agree with parts of this. But would postulate that most of their research is related to what corners can they cut based on a profit driven motivation.

Gee then, why don't we go back to a 25¢ an hour minimum wage if profit motivations are so evil?

See I will never use TSC I am driving another 30 miles one way to buy chicken feed I feel good about using I hate purina foods as I know how they work

Hows that? I picked up my first bag of feed (new to chickens) and got the purina layena omega plus. Im not certain they really care for it.

I told you I am a Bernie Bro, give me a place that pays their employees appropriately and I will shop there. If you live in Texas you prefer HEB over Walmart. Also, I have no faith in purina to not be feeding my chicken GMO's for a minescule profit margin vs Mexican non GMO products. It is just me, but how can anyone actually trust American industry to self regulate itself after the Love Canal and too many other industrial betrayals?

I'd like the gamebird feed too, but the feed store that stocks it around here has old stuff. And the TSC doesn't carry it any more. Can you have them special order what you want? In a quantity that works for you? Or go together with someone else nearby to place a larger order?

In my case this isn't necessary as they stock the general purpose gamebird flock feeder.

If you go to their website you can order it straight to the store and they email you when you can pick it up. Sure you don't get to inspect the packaging prior to pickup, but it should be fresh. It doesn't have a delivery fee this way.

Lets be calm about this; do you have any idea how well other countries do in regulating those 'Love Canal' type issues? We actually have done better than most, IMO.
I don't think livestock feed and the Love canal are closely related issues anyway.
And I like Purina's Flock Raiser for my birds, with oyster shell on the side. I'm not willing to pay the increased cost of organic feed for my chickens.
Other folks in other locations will have other choices, and that's fine.
