I was given some free fabric!!

Fussy cut = when you center the design up, so the object you want is in the center. So the Rooster stripe fabric could be centered to showcase the roosters with some of the egg print used to make an even size square. I think Saddina posted a quick little quilt made of just squares that is similar to trip around the world and could be made from the rooster print, red and other chicken print. I will go see if I can find it again.

Here it is, the stripe sewing method might be tricky if you want to keep the striped chicken fabric centered well. But it still could be made my sewing individual blocks together. The width given are just a guideline you can change them to any size that works for the fussy cut. http://quiltville.com/streakofsunshine.shtml

Here's
a youtube with fussy cut details. She goes through way more work than I would, but it will give you an idea of ways to do them. I basically would just find a part of the design that works for me and mark it and cut it out.

I'm sorry Kate, I forgot you haven't been quilting for a long period of time and don't know some of the terms. Trust me, I don't know it all yet either. I'm a self-taught begginer.

Like Saddina said a "cheater" is a pre-printed panel. Sometimes they come is individual squares divided by a strip of fabric about 12x12 in size. The whole panels are usually like 44in x 36in. You can add backing and batting and have a nice little quilt. Some people stitch around the design on the panel to give it a more quilted look.

I'm going to do a fussy cut on your I-spy fabric. I'm going to cut out one of the little bears right along the edge of it and turn it into a "balloon" for a quilt I am making.

Nana-that is a very pretty square!

Well,, I just used my new mat,, and new roller cutter,, and cut the red part of the yard of fabric with the chicken border,,, I forgot to leave the half inch around it for the seam so my 6 inch squares that it just took me 3 hours to cut won't be 6 inches,,,,,, I haven't cut the part that has the pretty chicken scenery, I can't figure out how to cut it so it looks nice,,
