I was interviewed on the radio today! Free the Chickens!

You know, I spoke with a Windsor Police officer who lives outside of the city (but would like to move closer, however, he has chickens and it's against the law) and he said that if anyone tries to give me a ticket for chickens, to tell them to get the eff off my property. He said he's gone into many homes with reptiles, for other reasons, and they're always kept properly. He's never reported anyone for reptile-keeping because it's not hurting the people or the animals. I mean, I can understand banning pot-bellied pigs, or goats or horses, especially in the downtown area. But chickens? My chicken is half the size of a perfectly-legal parrot.

Hey can someone help ?? my town allows a permit to have a rooster but i got one without a permit & someone complained & now they gave me 3 tickets & i have a court date next week ... I hired an attorney to help me ... i cant loose my baby .. does anyone have any ideas or has anyone been through this before & won?? I'd appreciate any info...tx

My city is even worse then Windsor(st.catharines chicken group is behind you guys all the way). My city allow all reptiles except posionous ones. I can have as many ret pythons but I can;t have a duck! I can keep chickens, no limits as long as they are indoor pets, no coops allowed. We are fighting for coops not for the right to own chickens. I have 6 hens, they all live in my front porch, every day people stop to ask me about my girls not one bad remark, oddly enough no one that passes can smell them and my direct neighbours are not against us having them.We do have a lady 2 doors down he$$ bent on me not getting my coop. The thing she doesn't get is I have all the time in the world I can bring it up to council every 6 months;)
