I was just accused of being a thief!!!!

My daughter was accused of stealing gas once and the cops went to her classroom after calling me and asking where she was and pulled her out and confronted her What happened was the pump she was at was not cleared yet and she could not get it to start and she was late for class so she just left on a close to empty tank. The clerk saw her and turned out the person ahead of her stole gas and she got blamed for it! She told them that they could check her tank...it was empty. They blamed her for stealing 45.00 in gas and her car doesn't even hold that much for one and for another it was within minutes of "stealing" it and there is NO way should could have ran all that gas out in 15 min! They ended up apologizing to her.
 
I just left a message for the operations manager at the corporate office. He is not in today. It will be interesting to see if he calls me back.
 
Well, there's a Homeland in Weatherford that just bought out United, and since there owned by the same folks now and there aint competition no more, the employees are total knuckleheads! They'll have one person workin and the rest standin around yappin, they dont even offer to help folks take there stuff to the car, not even the old ladies whose groceries out weigh them by 50 lbs! Just makes ya wanna go over and smack someone, ya know?
 
Thinking this is more proof that managers should make sure that they dont just hire someone but that they hire someone with the right skills to do thier job. It is the manager/owners responsibility to make sure that the employees are properly trained for the job. ie, adding subtracting, reading, writing, speaking correctly.
 
You handled that so well! I agree she should have been fired for calling you names. By all means make sure your gift card gets used, even if you do give it to one of your children. At least the manager had a little sense. What happened to me is not as frustrating as what happened to you. However I am usually the type of person that just shrugs, says OK and lets everyone walk over me. I was so proud of myself on this one I had to call my DH and tell him! This is what happened...

Last week I called and cancelled our sattelite service (teenager still isn't speaking to me!). The operator said if I paid $8.31 with a check over the phone we would be even. All that would be left to do is send in the equipment when I recieve the boxes. Today I get an e-mail saying there was a problem with my payment and to call them. When I did I was told that I owe them $18.31. I explained what I had been told last week and that I had paid the balance at that time. She said I know I see his notes but you owe $18.31 now. I can pay that with a debit or credit card right now for you!

What?! She said well it appears that there is a problem with the numbers. I told her that he read the numbers back to me and they were correct. So she double checked them with me, they are right. Well Maam I would be happy to clear this up for you right now if you would just give me your card number. I asked ,So that would be the $8.31 beings my service was terminated as him and I were on the phone last week. No, she said it would be the full amount. Well keep in mind I have had the flu sinse sunday and I am NOT in a good mood. I said, Do you really think that is fair beings it was not at all my fault? After a pause she said, Well let me check!!!

She came back on and said she had checked with her supervisor and it seems they are having a problem with their whole pay by check system. So it would be the $8.31 and she would also be willing to waive the $5.00 fee usually charged for having an associate do it!!!!!!!!!!! In saying goodbye she was sure to add, If you ever decide to get sattelite again we welcome you as a customer!

We called the police ourselves and filed a report right there at the gas station. The police office told them that there was no way our vehicle could have held that much gas and they were wrong. We called the corporate office but never heard back from them but at least we had it on record with the police dept in case they tried to pursue it.

Sounds she needed 20 bucks for something. With the gas crunch and machines holding certain amounts I got upset because I bought gas at a Circle K and it automatically charged my account $75. My receipt said the $25 I had purchased though. The only way I found out was I just happened to go home, go online to check my cleared checks and I saw the $75 charge on it. There was also the $25 charge. I called the station and they said it automatically "held"$75 on any credit or debit card to make sure they got the funds. As soon as the $25 cleared, the $75 would be released. I told them both amounts had already cleared and she told me that within 48 hours I'd get the $75 back. So I asked what I was supposed to do for 48 hours and how long would it take them to pay any overdraft charges because of the money they stole from me. She just didn't get it and I will no purchase gas anywhere that puts an automatic hold on a certain amount of money on your card.
