(I was wrong!!)Pretty disgusted with Murray McMurray Hatchery

White chest means mottled I’ve never seen mottled ees
Hmm perhaps it was just light yellow down on my EEs that are turning out white with grey -- not splash, but that BYM pattern but with white+grey

Her down was white with a brown chipmunk pattern (like her papa, who is Splash w/Wild Brown Partridge (red leakage))

So I do believe THIS is the Speckled Sussex::: ??

Most local breeders are the chicken version of puppy mills, with a host of lovely diseases
I didn't really think of this, but I guess that would be accurate.

Most people don't have a single clue *in general* of how to keep chickens in a healthy and happy environment, let alone people trying to exploit them for profit.

I know good breeders exist, we have many here but theres a difference between 'letting your chickens do whatever and selling the babies' and 'a bio-secure set up that the breeder selects the birds to pair'.
And most 'local breeders' are just ordering chicks from hatcheries and raising them to off heat.
