(I was wrong!!)Pretty disgusted with Murray McMurray Hatchery

Pics
I would, because I dont buy in cities. And I go to their houses to pick up and meet their flocks first. I do business with people I dont know but that have good reputation in the community, I ask around. Im not an irresponsible or naiive farmer. Good luck to you, too ❤️

I made my order IN the beginning of FEBRUARY

The week it was supposed to ship, they called me, "OH I AM SORRY, WE COULD NOT FULFILL YOUR ORDER, IT WILL HAVE TO BE NEXT WEEK."

After FOUR MONTHS they *couldn't fulfill my order of 6 chicks*

Then, I get a text/email at 8pm tonight saying they shipped.

I check the tracking number, and despite the fact that I spent $48 on overnight shipping, they sent it the shitty slow way, and it says it won't arrive until THURSDAY.

In this heatwave, I'm pretty sure I'm going to open a box of dead chicks.

I'm disgusted. What a waste of life.

(1) They should not have sent chicks this week AT ALL DUE TO THE WEATHER.
(2) They should have offered apologies and refunds or exchanges or changes.

But no. Just want to keep that bottom line rolling. d i s g u s t e d. I should have cancelled and refunded the order myself long before this, I will never ever buy chicks in the mail ever again.

If I somehow miraculously get a call tomorrow morning for the chicks, I'll happily, HAPPILY eat crow.

But somehow, I doubt it.

(Edit: they chicks arrived in less than 24 hours safe and happy and I completely overreacted like a crazy person. I'm sorry y'all! But I am so glad I was wrong!)

Edit#2: USPS never showed them ever having left Iowa. That was the source of my stress and anger. No reason other than that.
You are allowed to be upset! Their communication STINKS! If you send them a civil note explaining the anguish and stress their lapse caused, you may actually get a credit towards another purchase. Big business needs to keep us peons happy!
I know it's been awhile. How are your youngster faring, long-term?

I placed my 1st order of chicks from Murray in 93 and still buy chicks from them but now I have a rooster so my hens can hatch chicks for me. My last order of chicks from Murray was in 2023 and all but 2 are still alive(predators got 2 sadly)Glad your order of chicks arrived and all of them were alive!

I'm using an incubator to hatch chicks because my broody became a house chicken after hatching chicks last year (apparently this is what happens when you spoil momma rotten!)If anyone knows how I can convince my girl to be a normal chicken again and live outdoors (without breaking her heart!) please let me know! She's the only broody I had so I'm trying hard to make her go broody.I have her in a warm dark room with plenty of food and water (and playing 'chick' videos in the background!) Hopefully hearing the baby chicks peeping and chirping will motivate her but so far its not working! :(:)

You can't make a hen go broody, either she will or she won't. As for putting her back outside, do the see but no touch method for slowly introducing her back to the flock
