I will never be nominated for Mother of the year Award thread

When my DD was at that very seemingly irresistibley cute stage of around 3 (to anyone but her mother that is) a stranger asked her "Awww, what is your name little girl" and her response was "Naomi Dammit" I have no idea where she picked that up at

feather - I'm sorry you had to learn your lesson the hard way, but at least you learned.

This is one thing I often tell moms going through a divorce (or even grandmas): do not under any circumstances run down/bad-mouth your childrens' father in front of them - they will not thank you for doing this. They may feel the need to defend him which will just make you very angry. No matter what he does or what kind of awful behavior, do not bad mouth him to your children. Take the high road instead and say nothing. Go outside and kick a tree, rant and rave to your BFF or therapist, go in another room, whatever it takes to prevent you from saying anything.

Many years after my ex left, my oldest son came to me and said that he appreciated that I never once bad-mouthed his dad. It seems that the ex and wife #2 were having problems and had separated and wife #2 was bad-mouthing their dad to my two boys. My son was in his 20's when he told me this, so you see it is something that can have lasting effects.

This same thing applies to dads who bad-mouth their childrens' mother. Just don't go there.

I didnt puch my only child to potty train.

I waited until she was 4 and then leid to her. I told her "All her friends were potty trained" most of her playmates at the time were not. But it worked. When we got home that afternoon she went and got all her unused diapers and threw them out of her room. Didnt use one from that minute on

ok here goes...

my 2nd son was a few days old... I was dropping his brother off at school and then went to do some grocery shopping.. came home from shopping and was in the house starting to put groceries away and then it dawned on me... I left the baby in the car after bringing in the groceries...

When we got home I decided to leave him in the rear facing car seat sleeping while I was bringing the groceries from the car to the house and after about 3 trips all the groceries were in and I kicked the door closed and started putting stuff away when I came across the bag of diapers and then it dawned on me... wheres the baby?... still sleeping in the car... he was there for about 5 minuted before i realized he was still in there.. good think it was a cool march day...

I have 3 wonderful boys ages 12-6 I'm still screwing it up. But the 1st one is always the best. He was maybe 6 m and in 1 week I drove to the sitter with diaper bag on top of the car, got half way out of town before I remembered I needed to drop him off at sitter. The best I got home parked the car got out my mom asked me where's the baby? I forgot to get him from sitter. It was a great week. My mother has never let me forget it.

I have called Son#2 by my youngest sister's name....I've also called his name when I meant to call my dog (thankfully my son wasn't around). When the boys were growing by leaps and bounds sometimes I couldn't remember their ages, let alone their shoe sizes.

Is it just with boys? You are still in the kitchen cleaning up from dinner and your son wanders in and asks "what can I have to eat, Mom?"

And that never forgotten day when Son#1 had basket ball team playoffs, soccer practice, and sign up for baseball - all on the same day. And that was just one child! Anyone else been down that road?
