Well, who has clean chickens?!? They are all pretty messy if you ask me!

I set a waterer up on a brick. Keeps them from getting in the water and they just have to stretch their neck a little to get some. Sure kept things much drier when they were young! Scroll to beginning of my website under ducks to see my early setup. Good luck! (they are messy and poop all over! Their antics make up for the whole mess!)

Mine are total pigs... but I just hose down the pen every other day. They like it wet in their anyways!

But the rest of the time they freerange out by the pond and keep the mess in there so I don't have to clean that.

They are messy.... it comes with the territory of raising them I guess.

If you intend to raise more ducks, i suggest you build a brooder that has a solid floor on one side with pine shavings and the other half of the brooder has a floor made out of 1/2" wire. They will sleep on the shavings and then the food and water is on the wire part, just set the brooder up on some 4x4 blocks or what ever, and put a cat litter box or tote lid under the wire part to catch the droppings, water and waste food!! Ducks are definitely messy birds!!

At the same time that I put my ducks outside in a larger run, I started giving them a shallow bucket (one of these: http://www.raraequus.com/productcart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=280&IDCategory=29 ) filled to the brim with water and set about 3 ft away from the regular waterer.

Now maybe it's just because they have more space to move around, but it seems like their water dish stays *much* cleaner now that they have the tub to play in (they are so cute, it's juuuuust big enough to jump in, and boy do they!)

Ducks are so messy, but they are just astronomically more adorable than chickens, sorry.
