Since you got your silkies from a hatchery and they are not with the flock, that is sounding more promising. They are extremely unlikely to be the source of an outbreak which I was particularly concerned about. Yes, if you opted to have them vaccinated then Marek's is one of the 2 main vaccines that are given,. the other usually being coccidiosis. The vaccine is not a guarantee that they will not get the disease but certainly lessens the risks.

So now I’m reading up on this. If it is Mereks then it had to of come from birds or squirrels. There’s no other chickens around and no mice. We have had them from day 1 and got them from Cackle Hatchery. We have 10acres. I have a golden conure and a red collared Lory so I hope they can’t pick this up. I’d be devastated if my birds get this.

Your answer as to what killed him is in this part of your quote. Your roosters are getting an overdose of hormones at this age. Some roosters go overboard on trying to breed the pullets and some just want to fight. Just because there were no feathers missing doesn't mean that the other rooster didn't kill him. I've seen this too many times in my own flock. Sometimes the aggressive rooster will be on top of the other one and suffocate the lesser rooster. Roosters do fight to the death. Sometimes it's a bloody mess but often times the victim just gives up and dies.
So sorry you lost him. :(

Don't panick unless you have reason too...My friend has over 300 Chickens and yes...Some die suddenly...Heartattack in most cases...Disease will show symptoms ....

Thank you. I’d have to cull them all if it was contagious. No way I’d risk my beautiful parrots lol.

Yeah he could of been suffocated. Haven’t seen them spar bad yet but they were the two that always did it most. The hens are at that age to start driving the boys crazy. I just have to make sure he the other Cinnamon Queen Roo doesn’t go after my speckled Sussex Roos now. I want one roo for each breed. My Cinnamon Queen roo is named Arugaru cause he’s the boss lol. I guess hubby better finish our silkie coop so he can get started on one for the Sussex next. Just don’t want anymore losses. I’ve read they are usually not bad if the were raised together but, yeah hormones. It’s hard losing them when you just don’t know
 
Chickens in a nutshell explanation....
All Chickens carry some sort of diseases that they are immune too..Stress will bring out symptoms of disease..Meaning run down birds, imbalance in nutrition etc..New diseases brought in from wild birds, new birds, on your shoes will spread to your Birds..Some are carriers with zero symptoms as others die...I don't think you have anything to worry about at this time....
