After 4 years of trying to hatch from our flock without success, I'm greeted yesterday morning by two perfectly beautiful OEGB chicks, screaming at the top of their lungs. The funny part? I had NO clue this was happening. We'd been quite vigilant recently about removing eggs from underneath various broodies....to no avail. These precious little girls gave me quite the shock!
I'm positive they have at least one Crele parent, due to the head spots. While it's obvious we won't know exact variety until fully feathered, any wild guesses for fun? There's a good possibility they're either pure Crele, or mixed colors.
Here's a list of possible parents:
6 Spangled pullets, 3 Spangled cockerels
2 Brassy Back pullets, 1 Brassy Back cockerel
3 Crele pullets, 2 Crele cockerels
1 Barred pullet
1 White rooster
1 Silver Duckwing hen, 1 Silver Duckwing rooster
1 Ginger Red rooster
3 Blue Breasted Red pullets
2 Red Pyle pullets (one of which hatched out these sweet babies)
It's definitely not the Barred or White, if I'm thinking of genetics properly. Since one of the Brassy Backs has been laying faithfully, there's high hope she mothered one or both.
