This is Buddy. He is my new Bronze turkey. I believe he will be coming up on 1 yr sometime during the spring. He isn't very plump but he is tall with the most gorgeous colors. He is very sweet, afraid of most everything around the yard but getting use to it slowly. He is afraid of the dogs because the previous owner said he was attacked by a fox. When? I don't know. Tell me what you think of him. This is my first time dealing with turkeys. I also have 2 hens that are close to the same age and I can post pictures of them as well. Just let me know.

I do have one question. Under his face is he suppose to look this way? I haven't been able to look at his chest. No one has been home to hold him for me so I can get a good look at him from the front. When I brought him here I had him in a pen and he kept running into it with his chest trying to get out. I hope he didn't hurt himself.

good luck!

Looks like he has been fighting. Turkey beards grow about 1 inch per year as a rule of thumb and that would make yours closer to 1 1/2 years if you were to go by that.

The owner mentioned it would have been Buddy's second summer with him had he not sold him to me. This is what made me think he would be a year this spring. He was fighting with a chainlink fence. He kept running at it and hitting it with his chest then would sort of slide down rather then bounce off. That is why I didn't keep him penned up anymore. I didn't want him to get hurt. He's doing great now. As a matter of fact he showed off at me this morning. First time since he has been here. I was standing there looking at all the birds making sure I got the morning routine done and I turned and looked and there he was, flashing me....... lol. One of the turkey hens came over to him and he deflated. She turned away and he puffed up again. When she turned to go to him again thinking he was "hot" he once again deflated and went for a walk. It was funny. Nice to see that Buddy seems happy now.

Well, today Buddy decided to strut his stuff. He was showing himself off to me and later in the day to my daughter. He had a thing for her legs since she had shorts on. Buddy kept following her which sort of freaked her out. Too funny. I wasn't home and she called me on the phone running from him. What a handsome boy!

Now the question comes to mind. Is there anything to worry about when he struts? I mean, if he is chasing my daughter..... ok, I do find it kind of funny..... will he hurt her?or me? My daughter mentioned something about him going after her legs. I couldn't tell if she was talking about kicking at her or trying to bite her. I will have to find out more tomorrow. The turkey hens seemed impressed but he wasn't that interested in them or he was playing hard to get. I would like to know more about the behavior and if anything could be dangerous I want to know how to handle it.

I have to say, he was stunning. I guess he is feeling much more comfortable here.
