No one in your neighborhood could ever argue that you didn't construct a beauty of a property improvement! Very well done and creative use of materials.

Where are you located and what kind of weather conditions will your flock encounter?

We are in NE Ohio so the weather is all over the place. For the winter we are adding a clear poly panel on south side from the ground to about 3/4 way up. This should prevent most, if not all, snow or wet accumulation in the coop run because most of our weather here comes that direction. Hope to keep chickens happy and in their run for the winter.

I LOVE my coop too and I hope others can use ideas that I have gathered from so many diff sources on BYC. I find this forum invaluable!

We did have some wood and hardware laying around and our friend is a roofer and gave us the shingles, but between the hardware cloth, sand and T111 we are into the coop about $400 - not too bad IMO.

I LOVE my outhouse too. Whenever we have parties people sit in it and we take pictures and put them in our outhouse decorated bathroom - too cute! Now it works perfectly as storage for feed, shavings, etc!

Very nice coop!...Love it!...I am also in NE Ohio and we have a covered run with hardware cloth also...We made panels out of 2x2's and covered with clear plastic that we screw to the outside run in the winter and the girls love it...It gets them out of the coop all winter and keeps the snow from blowing in...When the weather clears up in the spring we just unscrew it and store them for the following winter...Works like a charm!

Enjoy you new coop!
