I think that it is illegal to take them. You should contact your local wildlife department and let them know what's going on. They will be able to help you. We surely don't want them to die.

If you leave them be she will get them back with her. Might be hard to do since your putting up hay but a few hours is all she will need. Ive seen them come back within minutes even though I was still running the tractor.

Why would it be illegal? I say take them and raise them. How many of the 15 will make it to adulthood without 1st being taken out by a predator or human during hunting season when they are grown.

Each state has it's own laws and regulations. Some of these birds are "protected". In Louisiana, we have strict laws dealing with Wild Turkey Hunting. We also have a law that says you WILL BE fined if you REMOVE a wild turkey egg from the wild. It's almost like Bald Eagles being protected. You just can't take a an eagle egg or baby eagle home and raise it.

The OP should research their state's laws. I don't know what the OP's state's laws her, especially if it is on their property.

It is illega in all states to remove wild fowl of any kind from the wild. Even if you have the proper license and permits to own them. Contact your local wildlife and fisheries and they will inform you what to do or help you assist in getting them to a rescue association. The fines are fairly severe in these matters

It's probably illegal, but if you do not tell anyone and do not release back into the wild, I'm sure it's fine. Otherwise, leave them alone or call a wildlife rep.

I feel the same way about trying to protect them but at the same time, it's natures way of remaining "balanced" and it's the law. Unfortunately, it's what happens to animals. As hard as it would be for me to leave the babies in that area, I would not want to get fined or go to jail in Louisiana. I still have to follow our state's laws.
