Ladywoodsong;
Thanks for dropping off the pet taxi. Did you try and ring the bell? I was home but have been under the weather the past few days with allergies or a cold so I was probably upstairs having a nap?? So, sorry I missed you.
How are things on the farm?
I need to take a picture of that giant porcupine/ostrich cross you sent me. He is getting all his/her big boy/girl feathers in and is all prickly looking now.
I took him out of the brooder last night and he was shaking like a leaf. Don't know if he was scared (he could see the cat) or if he is under the weather.
They are in P's old bird cage which has a bird roost in it (natural stick) they already have been using it. Too bad it's not big enough for them all to roost on.
Oh yeah Trish - I keep forgetting to post a picture of that pullet. Does she look anything like Stripe? It's hard to tell in the picture but her beard is a pale gray and you can see that golden color I was talking about on her chest.
She looks a lot like Stripe. More color though. When Stripe was a chick, she had a tan line down her back, hence the name. Now she's Stark white. Very cute. I also could have sworn she was a cockerel, she was always in my face. I compared her to Stripe from the Gremlins. She's a sweety though. She's one of the few that may just get to stay and live out her days here. Even after she turns into a free loader.
She looked like a splash colored chick when she hatched. Her body and wings are solid white, just a gray beard and some stray gray feathers on top her head. Oh and I think one gray wing feather. She is fairly flighty and likes to roost in the neighbors lilac bushes. I'm always dragging her butt out of them at night.

You're welcome. Yes, I rang the doorbell on the front door. I just figured no one was home. After I got home I thought it was a pretty stupid spot to set the taxi. But then, you probably don't actually drive into your garage.
I kept picturing someone getting home, not paying attention and driving right into the garage without seeing it. lol
Thanks for the use of it and sorry it took me so long to get it back to you. The banty's are doing great with the big girls. One of the Delaware's molted. At first I thought maybe the big girls were picking on her, but now the new feathers are coming back in. She looked pretty scraggly there for a while. Will all chickens molt? And when do they usually do that?
Thanks Ladywoodsong! I sure like her! We had to clip wings today - it used to be just one or two that escaped, now they all were jumping fence. They don't go far but I don't like them out.
Eric - the porcupine/ostrich bird is growing silvery white feathers on his neck. Pretty sure it's a he. No comb growth but his earlobes are turning red and I see itty bitty wattles on him. He even talks to the others like a rooster does to hens but in a high pitched baby voice.
I will have to get a picture of him - you won't believe the difference a week makes!
