IA here

Thanks mrheinz77 for your empathy. I will have to see if I can get some more. I only have a female left who has never laid, and she has crooked toes, so she is not show worthy although her coloring is wonderful.

Hi mrheinze77, how are those Iowa Blues doing? Hows that incubator working these days? Have you hatched any of the IaB eggs yet?

That's a shame Eric, You've had a bit of bad luck lately.

Yes, I have with the loss of my Buttercup girl and now the Delaware boy... Wish I could replace them instantly but I can't. The Buttercup I can replace, hopefully this weekend and I am planning on ordering some Delaware chicks today. They are such nice birds. Anyone need some chicks delivered to IA City? So I can keep the order cost down?
I do have chicks hatching this am, just a small hatch, oddball stuff, nothing pure except Vorwerk and Orloff.

Anyone have or know someone who has buff brama bantam hens for sale. My hubby is hoping to find 1 at Waverly. I thought is but a feeler out.

Kari,
I'm just finishing their breeding pen.

After I got them they didn't lay because of the move. Then they molted. They are laying like crazy now. They are in the mixed flock but I have some of their eggs in lock down. I've been talking them up and have people interested in their eggs.
I've had my share of issues with the incubator too. I had a thermostat go bad with 200 eggs in it. Only about a quarter survived. Then I'm having a hard time controlling the humidity. I've gone back to hatching in the Hovabator. I hope that helps. The eggs develop fine but die before hatching. The humidity is too low. I hope all is well with you.

Congrats Eric on your spirit award! I lost a BSL this morning too. I have no idea what was going on. I noticed she looked a little off day before yesterday. Just standing in her nest box for hours. She appeared to be trying to push out an egg. So I put her in some warm water for a little bit, massaged her tummy. Then I also gloved up and lubed and vent checked and didn't feel anything. So I have no clue. She was about 17 weeks old.

Thanks, and I know the feeling. It's hard to find a reason sometimes, so it's only fair to blame it on the weather. There are fine one time and an hour later they look a little dumpy, then gone. It's all upsetting when you don't know why and none of the other birds are ill.

Good Morning Iowans - is everyone enjoying this absolutely wonderful weather? It could stay like this all year and I'd be really happy!
