IA here

Hi. I am from Dubuque. I have 5 buff orpingtons. They are a blast. Got them from Theisens and raised them from tiny chicks. Built a coop and run based on variations I saw in the coop design area. We are getting 4--5 eggs per day. Kids really enjoy them. Gonna butcher one in the spring. See what the kids think of that.

No 2 sales are the same. Auctioneer is fast but sale can still last to 5 pm. In my opinion it is the best of its type this side of Macon Missouri. This sale had no bottle babies when almost all sales have had them in the past. The sheep and goats brought very good money. They sell sheep and goats on Friday evening. The warm room small animals start at 9AM in 1 ring and at 10 AM the other ring starts with large stock. Exotic cattle, camels, llama's mini horses and donkeys buffulo. Sometimes that stuff is on the sale bill other times they just show up for sale. After the warm room animals all the poultry and rabbits sell at auction. All birds are either from an NPIP flock or have been tested at the site before selling.

I love my buff Orps! They are just the sweetest birds. I've got one rooster who thinks he's a lap cat

That is good to know Black Cochin Bantams. The last sale I went to (southern Iowa) they tried to sell a trio of Cuckoo Marans as a pen of Barred Rock roosters and then sold a pen of Welsh Harlequins as Appleyards even though both cages were clearly marked.

I'm looking for some Khaki Campbells for my son for a 4-H project. I made him research the different breeds & decide what he wanted and this is what he has settled on. If anyone locally has any for sale will you please PM me with your location, price, etc.? It was recommended we have ducklings by Jan/Feb at the latest.

I have been washing birds for 2 days and have 3 left to wash getting ready for the show. Lots of time and work to get 17 Cochins(4 Blacks, 1 Birchen,1 Buff Columbian,6 Columbians, and 5 Partridge) clean and dry enough to put back in the coop. Will bring our birds on Friday sometime. This will be my oldest grandsons first show. He has been working with a pair of pretty calm Black Cochins. He can handle them well sometimes and other times he acts afraid and the birds get away from him. Oh well we all have to start somewhere. Hope to see many of you there. Have a Safe and Happy Thanksgiving!!
