IA here

Hi Im from Rockwell Ia , I have Russian orloffs, Shamo game fowl , assortment of barnyard hens, my bantam brooder (hennypenny) white homing pigeons. I am going to set my homemade incubator today.
I saw a Chu Shamo at the NE Poultry Congress. He ended up on Champions row. He was taller than a large exhibition cage with 4x4 under it to try to keep his head from rubbing the top. How large are yours as I know they come in various sizes. He said his would follow him around like a dog and kill a cat just as fast. Incredible bird but he had to pen him to protect the cats.

Wow I wonder how they would be against skunks? I've got an invasion going on in my barn right now.

Hi neighbor!
I am from Rockford, I have several different breeds. I too am going to fire up the bator next week. Spring is in the air.

I don't think people are aware how dark the eggs are from an Orloff. We raise bantam Orloffs and they are just now starting to get busy again. We have had dark eggs as well from the bantams which is non-typical. When they start laying heavy again, the eggs will be really dark for awhile as with most birds. BTW... i think part of the breeding background of an Orloff is Shamo. That's what give them the fierce looking eyes but they really are pussycats.
