I was interested in adding some Wheaten AMs to my breeding flock, but their "purebreds" seem off to me.Speaking of County Line Hatchery, if you have bought their birds, what was your experience? Their website states " We offer some higher end stock that would be suitable for showing, as well as production stock with that necessary "hybrid vigor."". Anyone know what their higher end stock consists of? I'm wanting to add Silver Laced Wyandottes, Barred Rock, Ameraucana, and Black Copper Marans to my flock.
I would suggest if you are looking for show birds to go with a breeder. I know some of their stock originated with show quality lines, but I'm not sure if they select well enough in their breeding stock. I know they don't show themselves. I know many folks who got nice back yard birds from them though.Speaking of County Line Hatchery, if you have bought their birds, what was your experience? If anyone sees the ad on craigslist for $5 pullets located in Pella. PASS IT UP!!!!! Like an amatuer I felt sorry for the birds and bought 5. Thankfully ive had them quaranteened but they are all exhibiting signs of infectious coryza! I just hope I havent had any cross contaminaion with my main flock. Thought I had better warn anyone who might have seen the ad!
Has anyone ordered from Sandhill Preservation? They're in Iowa so shipping should be shorter. I ordered seeds from them and was very pleased with tye quality and quantity they sent. I was thinking of ordering from them this spring and keeping a couple of pullets, but since I live in town I don't know how I'd gid of any roos (since they only sell straight run).
