I love those cheese curds also. We haven't been to the Kalona sale in over a month. Hopefully we will get back there soon. I love the sales. I sold chickens, ducks, and guineas there. I bought rabbits and a pair of geese there. I have a rooster or two to maybe sale the next time we go there. I'm taking some of the sheep to a special sale there later in the spring.
Welcome Flashpoint Farms. I might get back to you about the peafowl. I have bantams. Right now I have blue, black, birchen cochins. I also have mille fleur.
OOOh, do you have hatching eggs for the blue banty cochins? I'd be super duper interested if they are purebred!
I'm sure we can plan to meet up this Summer at one of the Burlington Swaps!! My good friend Larry goes to them all the time with his Chinchillas and Hamsters.
My blue and black cochins came from Sandhill. I will gladly hatch some out for you or bring eggs to one of the swap meets. We have gotten a hamster and a chinchilla from the Burlington Swap. The chinchilla we bought from a lady. A couple of weeks ago we drove almost to Chicago to pick up a female chinchilla.
We live two hours from Burlington but stay over at my parents. Then it is only a 45 minute drive. I have only made it there at 6am once. We usually don't get their until 7 or later.
When I have taken bantams to Burlington they are really hard to sell. People don't seem to want them. Last summer I got to the point I was giving away mottled cochins chicks at the swap.
I hope someone knows. We usually go on the last one. They give you a business card with the dates for the next year. We didn't go to the last one.
However one time I did find them at Burlington's website. I think I will go check. The first one is usually in April. They have one then every month with the last one in Sept.
Pollerum testing was $.25 per bird last year, not sure what it will be this year.
I got a copy of this flyer from the head of the swaps.
I will email it to you directly if you give me your email addy.
