IA here

I'll be at Iowa City also. I'm not bringing any birds to sale though. This week should be fun as we get ready for the show and give bathes to the show birds.

Lost another Iowa blue today. It was the other one I thought was a roo. He feathered in weird - all spikey looking and never weighed as much as the others. I think he had some kind of internal problems. He did not appear sick (as in the cold) and they have not been near the birds with colds. They have also been back inside or like now out in the garage with heat. All the other birds are fine and there is no way a predator got in the garage. The Big Roo was just guarding over his body when I found him. The Big Roo is definately a good rooster.

Hopefully I will see you all on Saturday - what times are people planning on being there? We should try and meet up somehow.

So far the weather looks like it will be cold but dry.

Thats to bad about the Blues. All these are fine and growing like weeds BIG weeds. Could he have eaten something bad for him? So you have 2 left?

Wonder how Lisas are? Oh she lost hers in a rain storm didn't she. I forgot. Wonder how Chubby and Poofy are doing? One of my orloff chicks got his eye poked out by another. Seems to be okay but the last one that happened to didn't make it for very long.

I can be there anytime, will be staying up the street. Does anyone need or have my cell number. We are traveling on Thursday and will eat at the big truck stop. david is a gear head so he likes that place. Is there a casino nearby? Trishs' dollar is already burning a hole in my pocket!

Trish... Do you know if I can get a couple of bags of wheat based chicken feed from Hubbard milling down there? I can't get any wheat based feeds up here.

She started working now, so I told her she could take over the bill for it. She is fine with that.

Yes I am down to two, Big Roo and one girl with almost no silvering.

I think I am going to put a warm air vaporizer in the coop tonight with some Vet Rx for the big birds. No one is extremely ill -just sneezy and a little congested. I figured out the Vet Rx is pretty much just Vicks vapor rub for chickens

I have been told by one than one old-timer, that they actually feed vet rx to birds with a cold. I use it at shows to oil up there combs and wattles and it really helps calm them down. Mine are kinda sneezy too, just a couple of them. That vert rx seems to quiet them right down. You might want to try rubbing their combs and wattles with it before humidifing cold air unless it's above 60F where the birds are.
It was icy here this am school was 2 hours late. South of here most were cancelled. Was rain then sleet then a dusting of snow.

Yep it says you can do that in the directions. I put some in their water this morning. I guess I didn't think about it being cold out with the humidifier. It is a warm air humidifier...

Maybe I will try to rub them down instead. My main concern is my cuckoo maran, she is the oldest bird out there and seems to be the worst. She is about 3 now.

Eric, I need your phone #. I'll send you mine too. And whomever else wants it, just pm me.

I can check into Hubbard feeds for you if you want. I've never purchased from them.

Riverside is the closest casino town that I now of. I'll ask Liz, she and her husband love casinos, and they will know!~

Cassie, what are you showing?

Steph, as far as the meet up, is everyone going to the banquet? We could meet up there Saturday evening?

Riverside would be the closest Casino. I'm showing 4 of my lovely and beautiful Muscovy ducks.

The chickens I wanted to show were starting to molt so I didn't enter any chickens. I started to enter the turkeys but I didn't think they would like being cooped up in a small pen for the show when they are used to free-ranging on the farm all day, every day and have never been penned up before.
