Finally got a Vorwerk egg again today! I watched one of the Delaware lay a soft shelled egg. When I reached in to pull it out, one of the other girls pecked it and it landed on the litter so.. not much I could do.

Cracked open an olive egg that had a small peck in it already and it was FERTILE! Blu is at least doing his job with the olive eggers! On the other hand the maran egg was not fertile - but they are picky girls.

My Boss Blue is really good to his girls. He starts up his "come see the treats" chatter as soon as he sees me come in the barn

Unfortunatly I figured out he isn't chasing the young roos out of aggression, he just thinks they are uncooperative ladies. He cornered one this morning and the results were unfortunate. I'll be separating them when I get home from work today:/

It was quite good. I look forward to reeading her book too. Hopefully the roos made it home OK? I should have gotten a bigger box or separated them. I really underestimated how much that Cochin would fill it up. What do you think of him?

I've heard her on the Chicken Whisperer show before. She's very entertaining. I learned a couple things from her too.

The box was fine. Keeps them calm.

That rooster looks amazing. His foot feathering is outstanding. I'll put him with the hens with the biggest heads, as that's the only area of improvement that I see he needs. Great cushion and very broad keel. And again, that foot feathering, wowsa. His is better than the other 2 roos. Thanks for the opportunity to get these boys back. They will definately be used in my breeding program! It was dark out when I put him in with the group last night. The other cockerel didn't even fight him. The one I got from you is young enough that he still fit in with the hens, I guess.

The Wellies were also needed. Their father was from the KC line, which is my favorite. The darkest eggs seem to come from them. I have those two separated. The rooster in there now will beat them up!

I'm glad they made it OK

The other Wellie cockerel seems a little lost without his buddies. I really find it interesting how the different breeds seem to group together even though they were all raised as a single flock! The gang of Barred Rocks are a tight bunch. The 3 pullets are always together and the 2 cockerels are joined at the wing. They eat, scratch and roost side by side

I agree. The saying is true. Birds of a feather flock together!
