Well went to the farm early this morn to get ready for the storm. We are right in the middle of the storm we have about 2" of ice/sleet so fare. The temp. is at 32 and falling everything is iced over. We started to set up some of the breeding pens this last week . Some will have to wait until above freezing at night(hopefully soon:cool:

) ,I just can't wait so we seperrated 4 breeding pens this weekend. We have to 25 breeds to seperate buy spring. I guess atleast that is between 2 of us.(that is how I justify it)

I've been worried about the ice storm. asked the chicken sitter to group up the chicks in brooder in case power goes out.

Keys chicks won't be too spendy, not trying to cover cost of trip but better wait to see how many hatch first of course.

Not gonna tell you about the weather. Okay, I will...

81F and not a cloud in the sky. Same tomorrow, then we leave. Humid though, my hair is frizzy (whats left). Gets cold at night, last night 69F.

So Joy, Jason or Troy, whats up with the weather today?
Wish I could have brought all of you with us and I mean that! Even those that stuck their tongues out! This is our last whole day here, think I am ready to come home however. (my nose is sunburned)

Tomorrow night we stay in Ft. Lauderdale, then fly out for Omaha. We have had such a good time. In the years that Lora and I have been married, we never took a vacay, work, work, work. Even after we adopted the boys, still no vacay. This may have to become a habit.

The inlaws are talking about renting a house down here, year round, and subrenting it out when they are not here. Will ask them if they need a a good property manager but, what they get in rent would be what I would need to live on! We do have our own battles to contend with at home. Had a nasty tenant leave a rotten mess etc. I MISS MY CHICKENS! Naughty Snow White will think she's been abandoned.
Did see a cool bug last night. Was fishing off the pier and a lady bug like thing landed on my thumb but it was opposite os what we have. this one was black with orange spots. I am also certain they are highly venomous as well! The owners here feed some feral cats. Last night Lora and I were sitting in the screened payio outside our unit and told her to turn around and look down. She had let one of the cats in and did not know it. The cat was very politely begging. Unsuccessfully.

It does sound like a great time. We haven't been away from home in a while either. My in-laws rent a place in Florida (north of Pensacola I believe) every winter from the day after Christmas until March sometime. It's not on the water but they do love it!
