What are they called?

Sold a couple goats yesterday and the kid that came with his mom goes to hubby 'how much for that black rooster'. TJ tells kid $5 and u have to catch him.
I'm like really he was going to be Sunday dinner. Lol
Kid caught him though. Down 1 pita roo.

Heard on news this morning thunderstorms Sunday in pm. So we might get a dry sale.

good for you- pita roos are so hard to get rid of... I had a fun phone call the other day about a pita roo. seems the manager at norby's was looking to get into hatching his own chicks and needed a large rooster for his small flock of sex links. I gave him two options, a New Hampshire Red/Buff Orpington cross and a BCM. He liked the colors on the BCM. Its nice to know its going to a real home and not a stew pot

Now for the other 4-5 pitas

(they're birchen - ee bantams - I'll bring them to Waverly with me if anyone wants one, two or more)

Those are pretty neat, Eric. What breed is it? Good luck on importing eggs!

Steph O, hope to see you at the sale too!

Sam- last weekend in Burlington the forecast called for rain. We were nervous about going all that way to get rained out. We lucked out, it turned out to be gorgeous! Hopefully it's the same this weekend.

I lost 2 hens to prolapsed vents this week. They were both the Bantam Marans Projects. These little girls lay eggs the size of a large fowl bird, and they are so small. One of the hens I lost laid the largest egg in the coop.

I'll be hatching ducklings soon. Can't wait!

Sorry, thought I'd included the breed.

I used to proofread! Oh my. Well lets give it another try. My source is calling the breed club pres. tonight to ask about eggs. These birds are fron the the region of the Netherlands where he is from. they are called: "het twentse hoen" Translated= something, something, something? I dunno. I will ask him. he is checking to see if they come ina bantam size too. They look really big!
Feathersite list them also called Kraienkoppe. They are also available in the US or were.

i was thinking about going to Stuart with some muscovies and maybe some guineas, ( just hate that 20% commission + the .50 /bird testing , that I'm not so sure ever actually ever gets done, plus giving up decent cages on top of it , was anybody at the last Stuart sale that could give me an idea what the market is doing? Oh yeAH, just checked Craig's list, somebody by Omaha wants Silkys willing to pay up to $3 for chicks and $7 for adults, I bet they get alot of calls, huh!!!

where are you at? Walker has a swap that only costs to park the car. Mostly its 4-H folks getting a project started and some odd folks looking for a deal but it is what it is

I have some crappy cages that I got birds in that I will just recycle and 20% commission is still less than I would spend on gas. I went to the last sale of the season there last year - haven't been this year.
