I have my niece and nephew for part of the day today so getting spoiled by 5 kids who got up at 6.
My oldest niece ( their sister)was in a car accident Friday night. It's been a rough weekend.

Happy Mothers' Day to all the Moms' out there!!! Woke up to a disaster this morning, story starts last night when I went out to lock up the birds, a muscovy that has been laying in the chicken part of my building ran outside, so I thought ,no big deal, the pen is closed up , so I didn't close the pop door to the coop, my outside run is corn crib panels with corn crib panel top, still don't know how, but a coon or coons must have got in!!! Final count 36 dead chickens and 5 guineas, I hopefully learned my lesson CLOSE ALL DOORS, secure everyone in the coop, can't believe they(it) didn't mess with the geese or ducks next door!!!

NO, I have the Ia.Blues in a separate 4X8 tractor trying to spoil them ,so she will start to lay soon I hope, I have 6 muscovies setting in separate tractors that I close every night and open in the morning, woops didn't close two last night , but apparantly the coon was dead set on the chickens.
I have my Feb hatched Ideal surprise bantams right next to the ones that got killed, so they will probably be traumatized for life! I have my week old Icelandics and my 4-6 week old silkies and mutts in my new shed along with 6 of the first hatched guineas(about 2 weeks old) and my Ia, blue eggs should be going into lockdown Tuesday along with some silkies, btm. buttercups, and quail d'anvers that I got from e-bay. Hoping this hatch does better than the last!!! Oh tell Mike that he was right, should have bought those turkey eggs at Stuart, mine got retarded and are trying to set

on goose eggs. NiCE JOB ON THE BROODER!!!!!!!! DD graduates 5/15 so , I don't think that she would appreciate me going to the sale in Osceola, guess I'll have to pass this time!!!

Did you look for me at Avoca? I was not there often, it was so nice, my son and i spent a lot of time in Walnut.
No ribbons but all birds got BB, BV or RV. One got a #2 but a BV as a junior exhibit.
Almost bought a Columbian Cochin pullet. The guy lives in SD and is looking for a good male. He also has mottled. A nice guy, I see him at a lot of shows and am glad we finally got acquainted. He lives near the Buttercup guy too.

Will have to pay him a visit since he has some New Hampshire Reds for sale and have been unable to buy any around here.

No ribbons but all birds got BB, BV or RV. One got a #2 but a BV as a junior exhibit.

I got there at about 12:30 SAT and walked thru and left at about 1 : 30 talked to a couple of guys that were from down by Sedalia, Mo and went home, I guess probably my first and last, not quite what I was expecting!!! did see your white orloff, or at least didn't seee any others!

Did you get any of the overall results for the open show? Were there a lot of birds exhibited? I believe Peoria had about 60 exhibiters from 6 states showing 850 birds. Was the man who had Columbians Ken Splett(I probably misspelled his last name)? Was he showing any? If it was I know he has been working with Columbians for a while. What did he want for the Columbian pullet?
