IA here

I love this weather my critters love this weather too . Miss friz is sitting on 6 eggs.
My puppies refuse to come inside. It could stay like this all yr.

It was just a question! We are at least two weeks behind up here for corn so thought maybe things had been florishing down South.
Whats the forecast for the fair? Fair? LOL

We are in Des Moines now. Birds unloaded, lunch at Spaghetti Works and back at hotel.
Front desk staff said there was a resaurant just down the street 2 blocks. 1/2 mile later, walking, found the place. It was closed for remodeling. From there continuing down the street.. everything was 2 blocks away! So, 14 miles later, we are back and in need of a nap! Birds will have to get by without us for the balance of the day. I need oxygen and vitamins and treatment for heat stroke!
Of course the cards were marked incorrectly at the fair too. If anyone is going, they are marked Sawed Off Chickens, and not with my name. had to leave 3 at home. One decided to molt in the last 3 days and the other two had head feathers missing and just didn't show well. Also have 3 really pretty roos for sale! All producers and pretty guys that can be handled easily. One prefers human companionship.

The weather is favorable Trish. Went to visit birds this AM. All fine but someone had switched cards on our Buckeye! I found it on the check in desk? They moved birds around and it was hectic I guess. Alnice was fit to be tied!
Off to Boone in a moment for a few hours of family rebellion then back to the fair for a few hours of bumping into people!

Steph;
What day will you be at the booth?

State Fair weather is fantastic! My birds didn't do great or bad. About what I expected with the condition they are in after breeding and the heat we had earlier. A great time. Best of breed Cochin and reserve Cochin went to a couple of very good Black males shown by a Junior. It was great to meet some of you at the fair!

It was nice to meet you Craig. We are back at the hotel. Alot of confusion at the fair. We decided to have an early dinner, go to the fair for the awards and then some more walking around, then load the birds up when it's cooler. While having dinner, got a call from the lady who bought my three little roos, one of them was missing! She wanted to know if I had sold it to someone else or what... I had not but would be there as soon as possible. Slammed down food the whole fam bails into the chevy and off we race from Court St. downtown, to the fair.
Got to the bldg and she called me, we met up and in the meantime she gave me the skinny. one of the guys working the fair, that I know, knew the birds were for sale so he sold it for me! He misunderstood me when I said it had been sold!!! Someone else, hearing her plight had given her a rooster, a slamon fav, that didn't do so well. She just has an oddball flock, she is not a breeder but likes pretty chickens so that why my cross breeds she was liking.
Well, at the end of a long hour, she did not want her money back, her husband shook my hand and said it wasn't my fault etc. and the... shall I say the second seller of the bird felt bad after I told him what had happened.
So, missed the awards ceremony. Had to go way down to the administration office to get the ribbons, then back to the poultry barn to get the BB ribbons. Lora had taken one of the coop tags off a BB and gave it to someone with our phone number! They wanted to buy the bird but he was not for sale. Birds all tucked in for the night. Will be the first goodnights sleep they've had in 2 nights. OH and when closing up the car, son has his thumb in back door when I closed it.... more trauma! He is okay, will have a blood blister and a bruise but he toughed it out
oh, the count. two #2's 4 BB's and 3 RB's. No plaques or trophys that I am aware of

I was there yesterday and we went and saw the chickens around 10:30 AM. When ever they were starting the chicken washing demonstration. Mike likes looking at the chickens OK but to humor him I didn't look too long

He did like the demonstration though. Then we went over to the building where they have all the antiques for sale. He likes to watch the forger and I get to look at all the "pretties".

We saw there were no Jersey Giants, the breed we are looking to get, so now he is really anxious for me to get some, plus show my muscovy Romeo next year. Romeo is much more handsome and larger than the only muscovy that was there.

I worked in my booth from 3-6 and Mike walked around the varied industry building making friends out of strangers. He also bought a sleep number bed.

He has been looking at them for 2-3 years and has never bought because he likes his money more

Eric - wish I would have got to see you and the family! And Craig - I wish I could have met you. I know which cochins were your's as I was peeking at the names on the cage tags. They were so beautiful even though you think they weren't at their best!
