It was nice to meet you Craig. We are back at the hotel. Alot of confusion at the fair. We decided to have an early dinner, go to the fair for the awards and then some more walking around, then load the birds up when it's cooler. While having dinner, got a call from the lady who bought my three little roos, one of them was missing! She wanted to know if I had sold it to someone else or what... I had not but would be there as soon as possible. Slammed down food the whole fam bails into the chevy and off we race from Court St. downtown, to the fair.
Got to the bldg and she called me, we met up and in the meantime she gave me the skinny. one of the guys working the fair, that I know, knew the birds were for sale so he sold it for me! He misunderstood me when I said it had been sold!!! Someone else, hearing her plight had given her a rooster, a slamon fav, that didn't do so well. She just has an oddball flock, she is not a breeder but likes pretty chickens so that why my cross breeds she was liking.
Well, at the end of a long hour, she did not want her money back, her husband shook my hand and said it wasn't my fault etc. and the... shall I say the second seller of the bird felt bad after I told him what had happened.
So, missed the awards ceremony. Had to go way down to the administration office to get the ribbons, then back to the poultry barn to get the BB ribbons. Lora had taken one of the coop tags off a BB and gave it to someone with our phone number! They wanted to buy the bird but he was not for sale. Birds all tucked in for the night. Will be the first goodnights sleep they've had in 2 nights. OH and when closing up the car, son has his thumb in back door when I closed it.... more trauma! He is okay, will have a blood blister and a bruise but he toughed it out
oh, the count. two #2's 4 BB's and 3 RB's. No plaques or trophys that I am aware of
