IA here

Can anyone help me? You may post or PM...
We are looking for a sanctioned judge, from Iowa that can judge both rabbits and poultry at our county 4-H fair. Any suggestions?

spring brings lots of noise. my roos are fighting over my poor hens. the ducks are at each others throats, but its funny to see a call riding a pekin.
I'm waiting on prego goat to decided when to drop a kid or 3.

lovin the weather.

when is waverly? i have a lovely JG roo that needs a new home

Any Iowns who can help me with this question? https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/640520/baths

After reading your question, I would not recommend letting them get wet. It's to easy for them to get a lung infection. I do not know what kind of waterer you are using but might recommend putting a weight on the top, using a heavier waterer or, one with a wide enough base they can not tip over. It won't be so much of an issue if it was warmer (no complaints here) but the nights are still cool and a breeze would put them down. I used to give my birds clean dirt with sevin or poultry dust mixed in it. That way they got a dust bath and a dirt bath!
It should be noted that to get the birds in the big frying pan for the first time, I hung a heat lamp over it and tossed in some cracked corn.

Hi, been a while since I posted here.
Iowa Blues are doing good, I have the same amount as before, except one hen replaces the original ones. I can't tell them apart so I don't know which one she is. Might try breeding them this summer.
Eric, your Buttercups are still mischievous, they manage to get out of the fencing every night and go up into the pine trees. I think they just fly over the fence. They have about 3-4 female offspring, and out of the 4 roos I had, I have 1 left. I don't know why the other ones died, I was afraid they were getting mites again like Brooster, so I dusted, but every week one kept getting ill/lame. I seperated them and tried to get them to eat/drink, but they didn't make it. The last roo has been doing fine though, so hopefully he stays that way.

I got 3 Lavender Orpingtons at a swap last year..all are males, and they are big. 2 are in one of the empty pens, and one is outside. I need to get rid of the other two.
Oh and I forgot, the IA Blue roo keeps trying to fight the Lav Orp. that's outside, the orpington is a big wimp, but still manages to get the ia blue while running away lol.

If you get some time Tira, take a picture of the girls for me. I have a trio again, one of the original offspring, a rooster (Moose) and a couple of hens but they are not nearly as SQ as the girls you got.
