IA here

I entered 10 birds total for the Avoca show. 4 Buckeye pullets, 1 bantam SLW (for sale), 1 LF SLW -he will be going home with Phil Shank, 1 Wellie pullet, 1 LF SC RIR and 1 LF RC RIR - both hens.

What is everyone else bringing?

OK I have some show questions:
How old should pullets and cockerels be before you can start showing them?
What kind of training do you have to do with them? I assume they at least have to be pretty tame.
Do you vaccinate birds you take to shows?
Will a slightly frost damaged comb disqualify a rooster?

As to age it depends on the breed and variety. Some develop much faster. Something like a large fowl Cochin probably would be about 9-10 months. Probably not before 4-5 months for most breeds.

I cage some individually and some never get handled.

I do not vaccinate ever. birds

It will not disqualify him but it ill be taken into account when determining placement by a judge.

Forecast says 80 Wed-Sat so I better clean the chicken house today. Lord know it needs to be cleaned again before before hot weather hits. Then I get to wash birds Wed and Thurs for my last show of the spring at Peoria this weekend. I have some young Columbian Cochins available if anyone is interested.

Same here Craig. Fighting a sore throat too.

Sent in list for Avoca yeterday. Showing some different things than Scribner.

Bantam Barnevelder eggs will be here Wed! Hoping for a good hatch.
