IA (incubators anonymous) September Hatches?

@Kimmyh51 :loveSo cute! Congrats! @Cyprus How's it going? @ChickensAndYoga I hope this hatch goes better for you! Did you give the nest boxes a good disinfecting too? Just to cover your bases. I would almost be tempted to spray a few eggs with disinfectant solution to see if they did any better.
Ohh I Didn’t think of the nest boxes! I did change their bedding though and this hatch I dipped all eggs in a 20% bleach solution. And any with any fecal matter I washed with dawn then let dry then dipped. I’m curious to see how it goes. It IS Florida so there is rain and even with th cleanest coops they get nasty feet. I actually clean my coops AT LEAST every other day with a litter scoop.

I saw a video on Youtube where a guy made a solution of 50% Listerine (original flavor) + 50% water and sprayed the eggs with a sprayer bottle to kill any bacteria that is on the eggs, says it works for him and he gets a good hatch. Something you might want to look at.

I have seen several people's posts that refer to it being too late to start another hatch. Is that due to egg availabilty, or climate? I am in Florida. It is still 76F right now at 10pm, and 90s during the day. It won't get "cold" here until January, lol.
I am in NC and I plan on this September hatch and one in October. Then I will shut down for Nov-Jan. The Oct batch should be fully feathered by the time the cold hits, that is what you have to consider.

I didn’t realize you’re also in Florida! I hatch year round. My hens lay regardless lol When it’s “cold” I actually have a heat pad in my baby coop that I use. Last year only had to use it a few times when we got down below the 50s lol or I just bring the non-feathered inside

Yes, lol, I just noticed you are in FL yesterday. I am about 70 miles south of you!

That was my thinking, lol. Then someone suggested I get chicks instead of hatching another batch because it was late in the year. They didn't notice that I am in Florida, at least 1400 miles south of them.
My main concern is getting my coop built. The daily thunderstorms are keeping me from working on it. I may have to use my storage shed as a temporary solution
