IA (incubators anonymous) September Hatches?

:clapYES! Can you imaging try to clean the mess out the incubator if one exploded!?!? Oh my goodness, that would be truly terrible.
No, I'd rather not, lol. Perhaps I "hover" a bit more than I should, but I am getting better. Last batch I got rid of a smelly one by/on day 7, I believe. After that I noticed a whiff of smell every now and then, but each remaining egg smelled fine. Preparing for lockdown is when I identified a second stinker. An exploding bacterial bomb is not something I want to deal with! Ever, lol. Tonight will be day 7, trying to decide whether to leave them alone until day 10, or weigh them to confirm proper loss. My humidity has been pretty stable at 35-40%.

I've actually done really well with these! They're on Day 15 1/2 and I've only candled them one time at Day 10. I'll probably set them for lock down either tonight or in the morning because there are some bantam eggs in there. I may have some more bantam eggs on the way... I really wanted them to be grown ready to lay in the Spring...They should be here tomorrow and so should the quail eggs.

I am so frustrated! I looked through the classifieds last week to try and find a few quail chicks. I responded to an add and asked if they had any a week old or less, they told me they had some hatching on the 23rd. I text them back on the 23rd, they told me no chicks until Spring. Then text right back asking who is this? So I'm thinking WTH? I just told them, ok I must have misunderstood I thought you told me you would have some on the 23rd. Anyway, they've been super weird! I couldn't meet on Sunday when they wanted to because after all that it was 7 PM, but they can't meet any other time??? I just told them I'd look elsewhere. I'm SUPER confused why they put out an ad if they didn't actually want to sell chicks??? Poor little quail just needed a couple friends. :th

That's great! I weighed and candled before setting them, and have checked them from above, without removing them. I think I can wait until day 10 [I think I can... I think I can...].
Good luck!

Probably dodged a bullet, there, maybe even literally. Doesn't sound like common sense lives there.

I have total faith in your ability to leave them alone until Day 10! :gig It's so tough!

I believe you're right! Maybe Coturnix Quail is code for something around here I was unaware of? :lau I do live very close to the Meth capital of Kentucky.

The police here urge people to conduct those kind of purchases in a public place, even at the police stations. I don't know how they would feel about livestock purchases in their parking lot, though!

So true! My husband doesn't like me do anything like that by myself. We don't typically buy from people we don't know, if we do though his dad goes with him and they meet somewhere public. We're pretty rural, it probably wouldn't be the strangest thing they saw that day! :lau

Thank you, and good luck to you, too!
10 of my twelve have veins showing. The other 2 (EEs) may just be harder to see through. We'll get those percentages up!
One of my eggs hatched today. I'm super excited. So out my last four I have one hatch. Looks like another is on its way. Super happy that my son was home when it happened his excitement was overjoying.
