Side note: I just got home and did a quicky candle (no touching, just candling from the top with the eggs still in the turner). Six viable, still! Yay!

That is AWESOME! My early eggs are going on LD probably tomorrow afternoon since I have some bantam eggs in there!

Side note: I just got home and did a quicky candle (no touching, just candling from the top with the eggs still in the turner). Six viable, still! Yay!

Still not quite a 50% hatch rate, but better than the first attempt. Mine go on LD tomorrow, too

I know! It's awful! I have a broody Buff Orpington I've been trying to break, but if the weather is going to cool off some I may let her have some of the next set. They're on Day 10.

Aww, poor girl! I hope it cools off so she can give it a go. Has she hatched for you before?
If my 6 hatch, that will put me at 17 chicks, in three age groups. I may have to build some larger brooders, since the daily rain has kept me from putting up the fences and starting on the coop, lol. Once the coop is done I'll have room for 20 total. I keep reminding myself that I don't HAVE to have 20 immediately, lol.
